John MacDonald
(Western District and Diocese of Argyll and the Isles) Born in Greenock, 2nd September 1850, the son of Hugh MacDonald and Flora MacDougall; left for Scotland, 18th June 1875, and ordained by Archbishop Eyre in St. Mary’s, Glasgow, 10th August 1875; priest in charge, Campbeltown, 1903-24; canon of the Argyll and the Isles chapter; died in Glasgow, 27th February 1924.

Report of the ordination of John Macdonald in the Scottish Catholic Directory of 1876.
The Rev. John Macdonald was born at Greenock on the 2nd September, 1850; entered Blairs College on the 27th July, 1865; and was sent to the Scots College, Valladolid, in November, 1870. He returned to Scotland in July, 1875. He received the Tonsure on the 4th, and Minor Orders on the 5th August; and was ordained Sub-Deacon on the 6th, Deacon on the 8tb, and Priest on the 10th of same month, by Archbishop Eyre.
